2014 Andorra WOOD GROUSE 1oz Silver Antique Coin
2014 Andorra WOOD GROUSE 1oz Silver Antique Coin
The Principality Andorra has issued the last coin of an exclusive set of four silver coins. It's the first set of the, Atlas of Wildlife‚ a brand-new low mintage series! The idea of vivid depiction of the animals on Earth in their natural habitat gave life to the series and the most widespread animals of each continent inspired the coin designers. Each high relief coin of the Atlas of Wildlife is struck of 1 oz pure silver .999 and decorated with a colored Swarovski crystal.
The obverse of the coin displays the emblem of the Principality of Andorra surrounded by the inscriptions indicating the face value of the coin, its metal fineness, issuing country and year.
Special minting technique has been employed to reveal stunning details of an artistic image of the bird on the reverse. It features a wood grouse within its natural habitat, and apart from the Swarovski crystal, nothing else to interfere with the clarity of the design. The wood grouse is the largest member of the grouse family found across Europe.
With up to 1.5 meter wingspan, these birds reach up to 1 meter in size and 6.5 kg in weight. The set consists of four coins in total: Wild Boar, Perch, Pond Turtle and Wood Grouse. The complete collection will comprise 6 sets, one per year, each dedicated to a certain part of the world. Issued with the mintage of only 1 000 coins worldwide, these silver pieces are truly amazing!
