2019 Cameroon FRANCISCAN BASILICA IN CRACOW - Polished Stained Glass 2oz Silver
The second coin from the "Polish Stained Glass" series.
In Cracow there is a beautiful and famous Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, whose image can be found on the new coin produced by the Mint of Poland. The church dates back to the 13th century and was probably founded by Prince Bolesław the Chaste. The temple was built from 1237 (the arrival of the Franciscans in Krakow) to around 126.
The interior of the church is particularly decorated with stained-glass windows designed by Stanisław Wyspiański. In the presbytery they present, among others, the patron saint of the temple and the symbols of the four elements. The most famous stained-glass window is "God the Father" and it is he who is on the coin.
