2022 Cook Islands RESTITUTION Threads of Light 24k Gold Note (Aurum)
The seventeenth century was an era of both bloody conflict and monumental revelation. This work portrays an era when civilization was entering the modern era, an era of restitution as the writings of astronomers and theologians alike challenged men and women to re-evaluate their place in the universe, and bloody conflicts between mighty powers brought tumultuous changes and restitution of freedom felt to this day.
Obverse Side: Featured here is Frederick William (1620 - 1688) was a member of the House of Hohenzollern (a dynasty of rulers in Central and Eastern Europe) who reigned as Elector of Brandenburg and Duke of Prussia. After the Thirty Years’ War (1618 - 1648) ravaged much of Central Europe, Frederick William rebuilt devastated cities and acted as a mediator between Catholic and Protestant combatants, establishing Brandenburg-Prussia as a state for religious tolerance. In the backdrop is the Taj Mahal, commissioned by Shah Jahan (1592 – 1666), was built in Agra as a mausoleum for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal (1593 – 1631).
